A peek inside the collection of Edythe and Eli Broad:

Hung in their Los Angeles home, two paintings by Cy Twombly, ‘Untitled [Munich/Rome]’ (1972) and ‘Untitled [Bolsena]’ (1969) line the walls of their dining room whilst a custom made Rose Tarlow dining table with midcentury Estelle and Erwine Laverne chairs centre the room.

Twombly’s oversized paintings help to scale and balance the room, with both work’s abstract brushwork introducing a dynamism into a room dominated by straight lines.

This month’s featured artwork is 20th February 2021, Jug With Flowers, a large and vibrant iPad drawing printed on paper created as part of David Hockney’s 20 Flowers and Some Bigger Pictures series.

Printed on paper, this piece depicts a colourful bouquet of flowers positioned on a blue gingham tablecloth set against a contrasting maroon background - cleverly allowing the flowers to fill the foreground.

David Hockney was an innovative printmaker who used technology to his advantage both early in his career through to his 80s where he drew on his iPhone and iPad.
