David Shrigley (born 1968) is a celebrated British visual artist. His work features his sense of humour and everyday themes that viewers can relate to. Shrigley studied at the Glasgow School of Art and now lives and works in Brighton. He has worked with photography, sculpture, music and film, painting and printmaking. During his career, Shrigley directed Blur’s music video for Good Song, since 2005 has contributed a cartoon to The Guardian’s weekend magazine every week and in 2016 he installed a huge thumbs up sculpture on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. His work has been and is exhibited extensively internationally and is owned by numerous major collections such as the Tate, MOMA in New York and the Art Institute in Chicago, and his popularity continues to rise.
